I'll say that to make a good Neocities site you need 3 elements :
a- NEVER be creative!
You must always copy your classmate's work. If a person is making a good site, copy it! You need to have the same generic "COLORFUL"/ "nostalgia core" background, the same features .
b- NOSTALGIA! Nostalgia!
This is the most important part. If you were not born in the 50S to the 80s, you have no experience of this time. But guess what ? All you have to do is to masturbating about a period you don't know. Fruitiger aero, xp, Win7,... You know them. Instead of making something original just put your hand in the ass of the nostalgia box and you will be amazed by how incredible the past was. Because will know that health was better back then. TV was better! Nothing happened between 1939 and 1991! Cold doesn't exist! You don't only have to put the nostalgia in your site but also BE THE NOSTALGIA! wear 2000s, 50s, 90s shirt and pants pants pants shirt shirt. Grab a ipod set your OS to Win7 and ignore linux because you're to dumb i mean too good for it. And on the internet make sure to watch dozens of nostalgia core YT shorts about AOL, AIM Yahoo and more without even using them one! Don't forget! The world was perfect before 2017! You're not the problem! Just fap on old stuff, don't change! you're perfect!
c- Be lazy.
Actually you don't need advice for that. You're already max level in this domain...
